I'm always looking for new music to listen and enjoy. I happened upon
Audioscrobbler when I installed
AmaroK 1.2.1. Basically, Audioscrobbler is a (free) service that tracks the music you listen to via plugins for your media player. Audioscrobbler automatically finds people with similar tastes in music and makes suggestions for you. You can also join "groups" for people with similar tastes and discuss in forums.

I have known Matt for about 15 years now (man, I'm starting to feel old!), and he recently started a
blog. I'm sure he'll have something interesting up there eventually. Matt, I was just kidding about the midget porn thing!
After trying to code Java with
VIm, I came to the point where an IDE would speed up my devlopment and testing. I tried out the touted
Eclipse that IBM pushes, but frankly, I was less than impressed with its usability for small projects and just-starting developers. I installed the
NetBeans IDE that
Sun Microsystems stands behind, and I was very impressed. The interface is very intuitive, its quick to load, easy to build, test, and debug programs, and it runs great on Solaris, Linux and Windows.

It's now official -- Sun has started to release Solaris under their
OSI approved CDDL (Common Development and Distribution License). DTrace is the first piece to be released, with a full compilable source tree expected in Q2 2005.
